No it doesn't sound like it is abcessed at the time. But by the way you describe the condition of the tooth, it does sound like it could easily become abcessed sooner or later. In order to aviod the pain and trouble of an abcess, you should see your dentist now, it will cost you less time and money to get the tooth out now, rather than waiting until it starts to really hurt you. Also if you want to keep the tooth, the sooner you get in, the better chance of saving the tooth.
Good Luck!

: all of my wisdom teeth came in like any other normal teeth. however i am having a problem right now with one of them. it is the lower wisdom tooth on my right side and it appears there is some decay and it has been chipped. the wierd thing is it doesnt hurt at all unless i bite down directly on it. i only noticed it because the chip has left a jagged edge and has iritated the gum on the inside of my cheek. does this sound like it could an abcess? or is it just a decayed tooth that needs to be pulled?
