I just wanted to share with everyone who is getting an apico about my good experience. I can't remember who posted his good experience, too, but I think as he suggested it's good to share the success stories. =)
Let me first preface this and say prior to getting the procedure done I did an intensive websearch and I came up with only a few websites and I stumbled on these boards. I read many posts and I was scared. Knowing what the procedure entailed only made me more anxious and afraid, but now that I got it done I feel like I wasted my time being afraid.
I made a consulation appt. with an oral surgeon on a Thursday since I noticed an abscess on my gum..I had the apico performed on tooth #14 on my left side. (I first did an inquiry at our state's Board of Dentistry since I wanted someone trustworthy and professional.) I made the apico appt. for the following Monday morning. All weekend I was a bundle of nerves. Plus I couldn't eat or drink 8-12 hours prior since I was getting anaesthesia.
I showed up for my appt. that Monday morning. One minute my dr. was asking me how I was feeling, told me to pump my arm and make a fist, inserted a mouth guard to keep my mouth open and then the IV, gave me nitrous oxide, and I was out within minutes. The next thing I knew the nurse was escorting me to the recovery room for my husband to get me. It was over before I knew it. =)
Two weeks later I feel so relieved and happy that it's all over. Moral of story..get it done before it gets worse and don't scare yourself too much. It'll all be over soon. =) Also, I've learned my lesson and take much better care of my teeth.
Good luck to all who have to get this procedure. It's not as bad as it seems.
