One thing you have to do is realize that people are more likely to post negative comments than positive ones. People who are having problems need somewhere to turn and this board provides that for them. Once someone's life is going well, they might not find a need to post here anymore.
Regarding the Celexa - you should not feel anxious or depressed about the fact that you need to take a medication to feel normal again. Millions of people have gone down the same road you are about to go down and have had great results. I'm one of those people. Celexa was a wonder drug for me. It helped me out of a long depression and I feel like a new person these days. I've been on it for almost 2 years and am currently going off of it (slowly).
If you decide that you will try it and stick with it, you'll do fine. You don't have to advertise the fact that your taking medication for depression. Just try it and see if it works for you. Pay close attention to your body while taking it. If any problems occur, talk to your doctor. You have to keep in mind that each person is different and what worked for one might not work for another. Also, everyone reacts differently to each drug. So, just pay close attention to how you feel and relay that news to your doctor. Tell him both positive and negative effects of the medication. It will help him figure out if you might do better on something else.
Also, one more thing, I beleive that counseling is very important. You need to work through the reason(s) you are depressed. The medication helps you deal with those reasons. I can't stress the importance of counseling and medication. If you are being prescribed Celexa by your general practitioner, please ask for a referral to a counselor.

: Hi everyone - I have been prescribed Celexa today and am going to start taking it tomorrow. I can't tell you how anxious and depressed just having to take a medication is making me. I really hope it works, but I am bothered by the fact that I have to take a medication to function normally. And the side effects are scary. Just reading some of your messages are making me think twice about taking it. I think there were only two or three good messages.
: But, I feel so bad, I know I need something to try to get better. I tried St John's Wort but didn't stick with it. You have to take it 3 times a day, and that was a pain. I guess I'm thinking...is life really worth all this hassle? We all just die anyway...
