: I was lucky that my first medication did the trick, but now my biggest fear is that I'll wake up one morning and find that it no longer works. Since I know it's a chemical thing, I'll need it all my life. what do I do if it stops helping?

I'm not surewhat to say but the fac that you worry about 'what ifs' indicates to me that you may consder cognitive therapy as a means to boldert your medicinal therapy and that may ease your anxiety and serve as a valic back up "just in case."
