I for one think your totally normal and probably highly creative and intelligent. While it is important not to spend all your time daydreaming it doesn't mean there is something wrong with you. I have done this all my life too... and have just learned to realize when I am reliving a conversation that happend long ago or not at all to say to myself this is stupid and get up and do something to distract myself. Sometimes it is just a matter of pure boredom... especially when you have above average mental abilities... your brain just has to have something to keep it busy. I think maybe in your case it is an outlet so that you don't have to get out there and interact. I did that alot in my earlier teen years. Depression often affects people in such a way that they fall behind on thier activity and don't even realize it.
Since it is concerning you I would definitely talk to a doctor about it... but before I would just at the idea of medication I would definitely start increasing activity and try distraction. since it is a behavior you have just gotten used to doing it will be hard to change... but it just takes time to break habits.
