Was diagnosed with bi-polar disease (cyclothermia)this past summer, and am playing medication roulette. I had initially gone to see the doctor for symptoms of depression. After the initial assessment, the doc started me on depakote, which I took for a month. A month of hell to be honest. I was more depressed, lethargic and confused. He then put me on Zoloft, which made a definite difference. I had more energy, was more focused and on target. And, I could get out of bed. About 3 1/2 months after I started the Zoloft, I had a rousing bout of cycling, where on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I could barely move. By Friday I was bouncing off the walls. He now has me started on Effexor, which I don't feel is doing much for me. I don't have much energy, and I can't get organised. I'm tempted to ask him to put me back on Zoloft, as the Effexor is making NO difference in regards to my PMS; at least the Zoloft helped there. Anyone have any idea how med changes the average BP patient goes thru till things settle??
