: Does anyone suffer from both diabetes and incontinence? If so, what type treatment or medication did your physician prescribe? My 84 year old mother suffers from both and I don't know where to turn for help. Any suggestions?
: Thanks.

Anything I say should not be a substitute for advice from your doctor. Many people in this age group are incontinent and it cant be controlled. As long as blood sugar is controled, I cant find a connection between diabetes and incontinence. You may want to take her to the doctor and see if she has a urinary tract infection, as this can cause incontinence. There are many causes which the doctor can look into also (like some medications).
If the doctor cant find a cure, good skin care is important. Wash the skin with a mild soap and perhaps put something like Desitin or Zinc Oxide on the skin. If the skin breaks down or some other problem happens, see the doctor.
