Please see our new discussion group:
Founded July 11, 2000
People with diabetes have certain nutritional and lifestyle requirements. Judaism also has dietary laws and other Halachos (Jewish Law) and customs that need to be followed (for example Shabbos-Sabbath day and Yom Kippur observance). This is a discussion group about the solutions our participants have found. IY"H our families and all of klal Yisroel will be healthy and well. From the Jewish Diabetes Association, Brooklyn, NY (Nechama Cohen and Rabbi Hirsch Meisels). The purpose of this group is to raise and discuss these issues. It is NOT meant to be used to decide issues yourself. Please consult your physician for medical questions, and your Rov (Rabbi) for Halachic (Jewish law) decisions.
: : can anyone tell the names of medications that safe for individules who use strick kosher diets;and have become diebetic?
: Nothing I say should be a substitute for advice from your doctor. I would talk to my doctor about what the Kosher diet entails and see if he could help me. Im not familier with the Kosher diet (I know what it is but not what it entails). If he is not able to help you with this perhaps he could refer you to a Jewish Diabetes Health Educator (an RN specializing in this) or a Jewish Nutritionist.
