Hi. I am 30. My mother has had type 2 diabetes for just about as long as I can remember, but she hasn't taken really good care of herself and now she's starting to have complications. I am sort of worried because it looks like I am starting to have preliminary symptoms--fatigue, muscle cramps. Nothing serious but just enough that I don't really want to go to the doctor for it. ;) Seriously though, when I go to my doctor, I don't want to be diagnosed with diabetes. Is there anything I can do to prevent it from blowing up? If I start controlling my diet, exercising, all that, can I keep it from ever happening? I haven't followed a strict diet or anything, but I have watched what I've eaten since I was a kid, in part because my mom just didn't have a lot of sugary stuff around the house because of her condition.

Do you guys have any advice?
