: I was diagnosed almost ten years ago. I had several health problems since I was a child that have disappeared since I started injecting insulin. Kidney and bladder infections, yeast infections, dizziness, fainting, excessive urination... all things I lived with since I was small. I'm 35 now and thankfully have had no lasting effects from the disease. I think the main reason is that I NEVER was big on sweets. Anything sweet gave me a headache and I just always avoided sugar as a result.
: I got my hb a1c done the other day and it's within normal range, as is my cholesterol and kidney function. I guess I'm just a perfectly healthy woman who is prone to coma! I went for more tests yesterday for my thyroid and liver. I've cut my insulin in half over the last week, and noone can tell me why!
: My diabetes has always been VERY well controlled. I suppose that the better control you have, the more likely you are to have hypoglycemic episodes...
: I'm considering going on Humilog, and if I like it, I think I'll be getting a pump...
: Is your heart disease related to diabetes?

: : I am recently diagnosed type 1, and have suffered from hypos, but this was due to not enough food to much insulin and bad control. if I eat a bannana my sugar level shoots up, I would love to try a fudge!! Its all trial and error, but I hate it and can not see it ever getting better. How long have you been diabetic, have you had any other related illness, I am now suffering from angina, and will be having a nuclear medicine heart scan on the 6.12.00.
I am 45 and yes I think the angina is diabetes related. I am on humalog 30/70, but It is my third different insulin since diagnose 6 months ago. I don't know much about these pumps that you mentioned, what is it and how does it work. Oh I had another hypo last night 3.2, not to bad but it was only 3 hrs after my tea which was a boil in the bag curry and rice!! I can never tell what to eat and what not to. speak to you soon I hope, as I would like to know more about the pumps.
