: My daughter has been in intensive care 40 times
: in 5 years with Ketoacidois....I am losing hope, and afraid I am going to lose her. She knows what to do....but does not follow through. She struggles with ADD which is a terrible
: combination with diabetes. She will not do readings...and I suspect she skips insulin shots. I am out of ideas, plans, hope....nothing seems to work. They say she just has not hit
: bottom yet. I'm afraid "bottom" could be losing
: her. Any suggestions, references.....ways to reach her...make her UNDERSTAND the pending dangers of continuing to ignore her disease?
Hi Sue: I'm sorry to hear about your girl. I too am dibetic type 1. The thing that made me smarten up was when early in the treatment in my doctors office,I go to a specialiist, while waiting I saw a lady wearing sun glasses with a white cain being led to the office door. Now i know this is a specialist office, what are they treating her for? thats when I started thinking being blind is very common if you do not control the sugars. A husband of a cousin died of kidney faiure due to being diebetic. It was kind of like a chrismas story were the gost of chrismas future was letting you see the future if you stay on the path your on now. Maybe have her were a black mask over her eyes for a while to get her used to being blind. maybe take her to dialiss to see how its done. Take her to the amputees word were the have had to take off limbs all because of poor cirulation from the sugars being high.Let her see how the future will be,as she is in control of it, she can make the choises. get her to a specialist that is not just in it for the money.Tell her you will do whatever it take to help her. theres a life out there for her with peaple who love her, bring up the cute guy from down the road, tell her about bringing her home as a baby, all the moments only a mom has. but if she dosn't want it or she's not there it cann't happen, just like in the chrismas story she too can change, with a little help from her friends. chris
