: I have been overweight for much of my life.. First it was 10 lbs then 20 and now I am afraid it is about 40 lbs.. I have taken every last diet pill in the world and I was wondering if the reason that I can't lose weight anymore is because I have put my body through so much ups and downs that it is holding on the weight now.. I need something to jumpstart my metobolism and I think after all the years of every type of diet and diet pill that mybody is not allowing me to lose the weight.... Any comments out there>

Here is what you need to do Donna; get a copy of "Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution" or "Protein Power" and follow the diet recommendations presented. Both of these diets stress a low or very low carbohydrate intake combined with adequate protein and fat to lose body fat. I know this sounds contrary to almost everyting you hear in the media today, but the majority of people that are overweight are not that way due to the overconsumption of fat. The cause behind most obesity and Type II diabetes is a diet high in carbohydrates, and in particular the type of carbs that turn to sugar in the bloodstream very fast such as sugars and starches (white sugar, corn syrup, flour, breads, potatoes, rice, corn, bananas, etc.). The low carb diet works by controlling the bodies production of insulin, which is the hormon responsible for fat storage and which also inhibits the bodies ability to utilize its own fat for fuel. Each of these books explain this and each only costs about $6.00 at any bookstore. It will be the best $6.00 you ever spent if you follow the diet guidelines and get results like I and many others here have gotten. Alan S. 220/180/175
