: Hi.
: Honestly you may not want to hear this but it really is not healthy to eat carbs alone or protein alone. Your body needs all of the basic food groups. Yes there are all carb diets and yes you will put off weight really quickly and all of that but all those crazy diets will tell you that you can only do them for a short period of time. This is because they are unhealthy and as soon as you stop the diet you will put that weight back on and then some. What you need to do is eat a well balanced diet.

What???? That's old wives tales and wishfull thinking of people who can't give up bread and sweets. There are no essential carbohydrates, period. Go without protein, you will die. Go without fat, you will die. Go without carbohydrates, no big deal. Just look at animals that eat nothing but meat and fat in their natural habitat (lions, tigers, wolves, - predators in general), they all seem to get along just fine. And the human digestive system is more closely related to theirs than say a cow. And that balanced diet and food pyramid mumbo jumbo was introduced by who? The USDA. What does the DA stand for? Department of Agriculture. They are protecting their interests by recommending that people eat a diet based primarily on grains. This, in my opinion, is the farthest thing from healthy. I have been on a low carb diet for over 2 years and avoid sugars and grain products. I've maintained a 40 pound weight loss and am in good health based on my last checkup and bloodwork. And most low carb diets such as Atkins don't require the very low carb portion (<20 grams carbs/day) except for the first couple of weeks of the diet, then you can gradually increase carbs, with emphasis on non-starchy vegetables and high fiber fruit.
