: I have a question. Why is it that people always say drink lots of water? Doesn't water add weight? How does it help you lose weight??? THanks!! As previously stated water helps flush your system from all of the garbage put in it. People talk about water weight. It can add weight, temporarily, but generally it is not the water that causes you to hold the water, it is other things in your system, many times sodium intake. (look up biological osmosis) Any way, drinking the water will help flush such things out of your sytem. Your body needs water, so it is the last thing I would ever eliminate. It has no fat, no sugar content, no calories, so obviously there is nothing in water than can cause permanent weight gain. I would recommend drinking it, a lot of it.
