: I was just diagnosed with severe reflux that goes to my throat. I have been suffering with this for at least three years. I was also just diagnosed with food allergies and other allergies too. My problem now is that it feels like there is mucous in my throat all the time, escpecially after eating. I'm scared to eat anything and I even get reflux standing up.I thought acid reflux was acidic. What causes this mucous? Anyone know?
I was diagnosed with GERD about a year ago, so i completely understand where you are comming from. If you have sinus problems or household allergies(pollen, dust, etc....) this could be causing the mucous. I wake up almost every morning with a ton of mucous in the back of my mouth and spend most of my time in the shower spitting it up. I dont know if it is connected to my GERD however, as i have had severe pollen allergies my whole life(and having 3 cats doesnt help much either) You might want to concider going to an allergist and see if you can get allergy shots(personally I despise needles, and I'd rather have the mucous then the weekly shots...though I do know several people who have been greatly helped by the shots)
