: I was diagnosed with reflux and I wake up in the morning occasionally with blood in my mucous. Sometimes it is red and sometimes it is brownish. I had an endoscopy and barium x ray also chest x rays. Only reflux was found. Has anyone here had bleeding from reflux? I was also tested negative for H. Pylori.
I have had problems with spitting blood for a number of years. My throat gets itchy before this occurs. My doctor thinks it could be a reverse nose bleed but it is definately from my throat. I had to constantly clear my throat for years before finally getting a GERD diagnosis from my current GP. My symptoms have worsened over the past year and I have a numbness in the back of my throat. I used to always be able to bring up dark green mucus due to allergies, but ever since the numbness my mucus is always clear (?) I have recently over the past few months began to have problems swallowing small pieces of food, it gets stuck on the back of my tongue. Just prior to the numbness, by about a month, I had the worst bout of GERD in my life. For about a month I was getting really bad throat congestion and exteremely sour taste under my tongue and back teeth. To answer your question, yes I used to spit blood following throat itchiness. I often would awake with a dry cough and plegm. When I spit in the toilet it would be tinged with blood. I am schedule for an Endoscopy on 12-4-00.
