I have trouble with my esphagus costricting if I wait too long to eat. I eventually have to vomit, and then I'm okay. I've had two interventions for this. The first time, my doctor gave me a gargle that numbed my throat, then took plastic tapers, each one thicker than the next, jellied them, and stuck them down my throat to try to widen my esophagus. Unpleasant, but painless. The next time, I was under anesthesia, so I'm not sure what he did.

I just have to tell myself to eat more slowly, chew my food more thoroughly, and usually I'm all right.
