Hey Mike,
You're not alone in getting these symtoms. I to have had similar symtoms to what you are describing. Being an ex-smoker I was specially concerned with the back and chest pain which I didn't expect to be associated with acid reflux. I have however noticed that my middle back pain does seem to surface during problem acid periods. I think you will find a post on this board interesting. It is under lung problems or is that respiratory problems. Basically it states that GRD Gastrointestinal Reflux Disorder (I think that is the title) has numerous unlikely symptoms such as you have described. It even mentions a link to athsma and respiratory infections. I am going to the doctor next week with this knowledge in hand as I have experienced periods of fairly severe symptoms of GRD and now suspect that the respiratory problems I've been having lately may be linked to this.
I suspect that this problem will become much more common place considering peoples diets and stress levels etc. nowadays.
Hope that helps I know I've been worried s***less lately with some of these symtoms. I think I'm still going to demand a chest X-ray and some blood work as I really think you have to cover your own butt with these things.
