Thank god other people have had this problem. Ever since 1994, every six months or at least once a year, I've been getting these terrible burps. I had it in August of 1997 and didn't have another episode until October 1999. I've had it in April 2000 and again recently in June. I can't pinpoint the cause. Sometimes it happens if I overeat just slightly, sometimes I think it happens when I eat brie cheese. One time it happened after I ate too much of an apple. When I get these sickening burps, it's a signal to me that inevitably I will get sick - and I do. I end up with projectile vomiting more than once. It's usually followed by cramping and diarrhea. I will try that charcoal tablet remedy but I don't want it to happen again! I never get sick except for these gastrointestinal episodes so it's frustrating. Just the smell of the burps are so distgusting, it makes me nauseous. I'll be seeing my doctor in August and I'll ask then. I hope there's an easy explanation considering that this symptom is so specific and common.
