I'm reading out of a book titled Healthy Digestion by D. Lindsey Berkson, forewarded by Jonathan Wright, MD.
For persistant constipation:
Identify and eliminate food allergies(see chapter 18)
If your constipation is due to parasites, nothing may work, or you may experience only slight improvement until you eradicate the parasites. Customary stool labs may not detect parasites adequately(see chapter 15).
Low thyroid(hypothyroid) may be associated with chronic constipation. You may need to get checked for hypothyroidism or subclinical hypothyroidism, with blood work and body temperature, by a doctor who is familiar with Dr. Broda Barnes's work. Dr. Barnes suggested that the average blood test doesn't pick up subclinical hypothyroidism, and discovered that a below normal body temperature is a more sensitive indicator of low thyroid, along with other clinical symptoms.
Important: If you've had constipation for a long time>>If you have had a history of being constipated for 3 months or longer, you should add some nutritional liver support for 2 months. The liver gets overworked from having to detoxify the same substances multiple times.
Take milk thistle in capsules(2 or 3) or in high quality liquid tinctures(1/3 dropper), twice a day for 2 months.
Best to you,
