: ::I am so glad that I am not the only one suffering from sulfur smelling burps!!! I get then when I eat (I think) apples, or when I drink apple juice and sometimes from an over abundance of eggs. When I eat something that creates this reaction it starts off as bloated gassy feeling in my stamach. Then leads to disgusting burps that smell like rotten eggs, then followed by diarrhea, stomach cramps. This happens for about two hours. Then vomitting occurs simutaneously with more diarrhea. This will continue until I have thrown up a small amount of what looks like a light colored peanut butter. Once it is out of me, within a half an hour every thing stops.
: : : : : : A way to prevent that I have found useful is baking soda and water as soon I smell the sulfur burps and get stomach cramps.

: : : : My husband has these awful smelling burps which I suppose can be sulfur burps. He just had surgery last year for acid reflux disease and ever since then he has chronic diarrhea and sulfur burps. Does anyone know exactly what this is caused by and how to get rid of it? He is at his wits end and the doctors haven't really helped. he is also diabetic. The doctor says the diarrhea is caused by the diabetic condition, but the medicine he gives him doesn't help. HELP!! The burping is a real pain, for both of us.
: : I too suffer from this unpleasant digestive problem. It hasn't happened to me in a very long time and then today, wham, it's back. The sulfur burps were first and then I eventually vomited, this too was very offensive. Does anyone know what causes this?
: I know I sound like a broken record, but it's great to find out someone else has this problem. On the other hand, since I am not the only person in the world who has these very distinctive symptoms (sulfur burps, followed by diarrhea, ultimately vomitting), WHY HASN'T SOMEBODY FIGURED OUT WHAT THIS IS AND HOW TO TREAT IT? My doctor acts like he's never heard of such a thing, and perhaps he hasn't. I've been to specialists, even had my gall bladder out, trying to get rid of this.
: This horrible experience had become more frequent over the past few years, until it was happening every two to three months. After I had my gall bladder out, it happened once more and then was gone for eighteen months. I thought my problem was cured... until this weekend. I am now in my fifth day of burping and diarrhea (the episode BEGAN with vomitting this time). I am weak and queasy all day long. (I thought it was ending yesterday, but no such luck.)
: It is interesting that two fellow sufferers in this thread have other illnesses that I worry about. I am also a diabetic (type I, insulin-dependant for 22 years). I definitely have reflux problems. I also have a cousin with Crohn's disease, and with my frequent intestinal problems (other than the one we're discussing), I have wondered if I might also have Crohn's.
: I have not been able to tie any of my episodes to things I have eaten. My wife believes it is stress related, and I must admit that the last two times occurred coincidently with periods of unusual stress. I've also wondered if I've picked up a "bug" somewhere that lies dormant in my gut for a while, then wakes up causes this mess.
: I am including my email address here because I am desperate for any helpful information.
I would recomend having a stool sample examined by a medical lab that is familiar with diagnosing parasites.
The symptoms you describe could possibly point to Giardia ("beaver fever").
