In Reply to: Is it Gall Bladder???? Help!!! posted by Peter Griffith on September 04, 2000 at 07:30:37:

Dear Peter,

First of all, I'm really sorry that you have had all of these problems and feel really lost. I know exactly what you are going thru. Trust me. Here's the most important advice I can give you: Please, keep getting first, second and third opinions!!! Although your symptoms aren't exactly the same as mine, I did have trouble breathing when I have a gallstone and was in the midst of a severe attack.
Just like you, I had run the gamut of possibilities wit many different doctors. I was 22 when I began having problems with digestive pain, and am now 37 and still have lingering problems. I started by having severe chest pains that would eventually settle in my upper right side, under my ribs. The pain was so bad, it was hard to breathe, and I would sweat profusely. I was in and out of emergency rooms and doctor offices...told I had problems with stress, I should quit smoking, it could be irritable bowel, oh, it looks like you have some tiny pre-ulcer typr things on your stomach Whatever.
In 1991, when I was 27, I was given an ultrasound of my gallbladder, and the tech was like, "Holy cow! That's the biggest gallsstone I have ever seen!" The surgery was a week later, and I still keep my stone in it's vial! My 4 inch long reminder of my "lifestyle".
Then, after that surgery, I continued to have problems and no one would believe me. Finally, I found a wonderful gastroenterologist who has helped tremendously.
Keep pushing for more tests Peter!!! Good Luck

Diane
