: HELP, I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH 15 STOMACH ULCERS. I HAVE BEEN ON PRILOSEC FOR 9 MONTHS WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. I HAVE ALSO BEEN ON MANY OTHER ULCERS MEDICATIONS WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. THEY DID 4 SCOPES TO CHECK FOR BACTERIA WITH NO SIGN OF IT. THE DOCTER IS ALMOST OUT OF IDEAS. MY PAIN IS VERY SEVERE AT TIMES ESPECIALLY WHEN MY STOMACH SEEMS TO GET EMPTY. I AM GETTING NO RESULTS FROM THE DOCTER I NEED HELP. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS. I WILL TRY ANYTHING.
Dear Cindy: My husband had ulcer problems (not as bad as you) and they put him on medications that worked on his brain, not his stomach. He had a great deal of spasms and could not swallow and they determined that the cause of the spasms was stress. However, once the spasms stopped and allowed him to eat and the meds calmed his entire digestive system down, he was able to eat. He almost died from all of this. I don't know if you have any spasms, but the doctors were giving up on him, too. There I was 6 months pregnant with our third child and a hubby that was starving to dead. The doctors gave him impramine and xanax. 100 mg of impramine daily and a small dose of xanax. I don't know if this will help you or not, but it sounds like you are desperate. Good luck. Pat G.
