John:
Go for it. It also sounds like you should be pursuing a social security disability claim. go to http://www.myfreeattorney.com/ there are books there that can help you with your legal situation.
: In 1997 I was in a construction accident and have since had a two level cervical diskectomy with fusion and plating "C5-C6 and C6-C7" leaving me with limited range of motion + chronic neck pain as well as numbness in both hands. Also had a lumbar laminectomy at L5-S1 which failed, disc colasped and in the three years since accident my lumbar spine has suffered many degenerative changes. I just had a two level lumbar fusion, L5-S1 + L4-L5. Lower fusion was neccasary because of colasped disc and L4-L5 was fused because of moderate to severe lumbar stenosis cuased by hypertrophic changes to facet joints at that level as well as ligament problems. Had last operation 7 weeks ago and pain and weakness has already returned to left lower extremity making ambulation difficult. Most recent CAT scan also shows bulging discs at L1-L2& L3-L4 as well as minor to moderate stenosis at L3-L4 and degenerative changes to facet joints at every level. I have a difficult time performing all daily activities due to pain and weakness and doubt if I can work at all any more. I was a very strong heathy man prior to this accident and did not miss a days work in many years, now I feel helpless and am frightened. I know most of you on this message board are probably much worse off than I am but I need to find out if I should pursue permenent disability. Thanks for reading my post and hope someone can offer me some advice. I have three young daughters to riase and have no idea how I can possibly support the in this condition. Hope you all feel better. John
