Everyone should have a mom as wonderful and caring as you are. shame on the school district. Try going to your state vocational rehabilitation center----I'm sure he is too young but they may be able to refer you to the right place. I don't believe it is legal for the school to do such a thing----they are supposed to be educators not physicians. Also if he is excelling in the home school how about enrolling him in a club---like boys clubs of america. I believe they are everywhere. Here in Amarillo,Texas they have the Maverick boys and girls club and the children can go everyday and they have a bus for transportation and do all kinds of activities. Also check to see if there is a physicians referral system in your town----check with the hospital for that info. If nothing else go to a childs specialist and ask for a referral, give him all the info in a detailed written report and provide all available medical records and the doctors statements you have. If the schools still try pulling the same thing then contact a lawyer----because I believe you have a case my dear. Your son deserves every possible amount of education and socialization there is and being developmentally disabled or not shouldn't stop any of it. He sounds like a very bright and intelligent boy and you are a caring lovely mom. Best wishes and good luck. Please email me and let me know how it all turns out I would very much be interested to know. My name is Tina Ellenburg and I am a nurse, my address is tina@amaonline.com
