I wonder whether anyone can help me. My best friend is upset by the results of her 20 week ultrasound scan she had this morning. She was told that there was a calcium spot in the left ventracle of the baby's heart. At her 12 week Nuchal Fold scan she was given a ratio of 1 in 340 but that was changed this morning to 1 in 210. She is obviously worried by this calcification in the heart and doesn't know really what it is. The exact words the doctor said was, "Nothing to worry about......this calcium spot is found in normal babies and Downs Syndrome babies alike". I said I'd do a bit of research for her and it seems to me that this is indeed a marker for DS. I'd be extremely grateful if anyone could shed any light on this Calcium spot and thank you for reading this.
Kind regards,
Nancy
