I am assuming that your son is in a public school system. With that in mind, you should request an IEP (Individualized Education Program) conference. Let them know that you have educational concerns which you feel are not being addressed and ask them to add additional goals to your son's IEP. I have worked in education for the past 20 years and know, that as a parent, you have certain rights.
I am also the proud parent of a five year old girl with Down Syndrome. Good luck and just know that sometimes, as a parent, you must demand
that your child's needs are being met. Take care and God bless!
