My son, now age ll, underwent tonsilectomy, adnoidectomy, and a new set of tubes in June 99. The surgery was horrible, the followup and recovery were even worse. I vowed to myself, that if he continued in his usual trend of colds and URI's during this past fall and winter, I would never forgive myself for putting my innocent child through this kind of torture. Well, I'm still waiting for the first cold. It is now, 3/20/00. I would say that the torture was worth the effort. As far as dehydration after surgery, just continue trying liquids that he likes over and over again.
: I am a Kindergarten teacher and a student with DS just had a tonsilectomy. I'm wondering if anyone has been through this with a similar child. Any advice? The doctors have told her mother that her recovery may be longer because of the threat of dehydration. Any advice emailed to me privately would be appreciated. Thanks!!
