: Congratulations! You and your family are about to embark on one of life's most wonderful journeys! My daughter, now five, is one of the most wonderful things that has ever happened to us. She is such a blessing!
: One book that really helped us a lot in the beginning was a book published by Woodbine entitled "Babies with Down Syndrome". It is a collection of chapters written by several different specialists and also includes some
: parent antedotes. It is really a great book
: for new parents.
: Good Luck! May God richly bless you, your family,
: and of course, the precious little baby who will
: soon be a part of your lives.
You will see what a beautiful and precious gift your family has been sent. There are no words to describe the emotion and the love you will feel. It is truly geniune and unique. "Babies with Down's Syndrome" is a good book, but get in touch with a genetic specialist who can truly guide you in a direction where you will not feel lost. They will give you information about medical needs, etc. Each child, like any child, is special and different. Love is the true factor in any relationship. Also find about early intervention programs in your area. They start working with children as early as 6 weeks old. I personally feel that you should enjoy the baby, read and get educated, but most of all take each day as it comes, because everything will fall into place. My beautiful daughter is 4 years old and is a wonderful big sister to her 3 year old little sister. They really learn from one another. I have learned as well, love is great!
