In the movie, 'First Do No Harm' with Meryl Streep, based on a true story...she found thru research a book written years ago by a physician regarding a high protein diet with little carbs to treat seizures, her child thrived. I know cleveland clinic in about 1997 did a small research project showing 1 out 3 tested have an intolerance to carbs, causing increased difficulty in epileptic children and those with Downs Syndrom. Also at about the same time Ted Koppel (I think) profiled a woman in Utah who developed a high protein diet for her adopted Downs Synd. child. It was being tested at two or three major hospitals....I would like information on this diet...the name of the book first written in the early 40's, transcripts from Koppel or anything that would help me find this information. I have seen news clips referencing this little book in three different stories..found by desperate parents on dusty library shelves. Downs, epelepsy and behavior problems (turretts?) were all helped dramatically by this diet. Thank you.
