: Hi. I am a nurse and the step mother of an 8 year old Down's boy. Of course you have every right to be concerned. Be patient. Down's children take a while to start walking. Keep encouraging and being patient with her and she will surprise you one day you'll see.

My daughter was not walking at 2 1/2 years old, she didn't show any signs of ear infections, but the doctor said that she didn't seem to be hearing well, so he put the tubes in. The same day that we came home from the hospital, she took off walking across the floor. We feel her ears were causing her to be off balance. You might check with your Doctor and ask him if he would check your childs ears.
