: Does any one have any information on how I can go about adopting my 33 year old brother who has Down Syndrome? Where do I begin, and does anyone have any idea of the cost? We live in Virginia. Thanks, Susie

Susie, because your brother is an adult, you can not adopt him. thought you can become his guardian. We became guardians of my husbands brother, age 33, this year, when his mother died. You need to see an attorney that does guardianship. Who takes care of your brother now? After they become an adult(18) they need to be appointed a guardian. Please let me know.
Our lives have changed tremendously, having Joey, I would love to hear more from you.
