Hello

I am very concerned about my stepdaughter (5) who has issues of food and control. (She refuses to eat
or is manipulative to eat anything at mealtime). She does make herself vomit, sometimes at the table, in
protest for having to swallow something at dinner. Her dad lets her have a snack (usually sugary) and a cookie at bedtime.
She eats nothing in her lunchbox at school. As far as I can see she survives on sugar
and milk. She is pretty happy and think she shouldn't have to eat! I have been not saying much because she isn't my child but I have raised three, including a
hypoglycemic teen with sugar issues and a disabled child with sensory food issues and am pretty
accepting! But this is even more complicated-it's about manipulation and control. She is painfully thin-
I think her 2 year old sister weighs more than she does.
My question is....does an eating disorder manifest itself in childhood-this young- should I be on the
lookout for preventative measures for the future???? Any opinions?
