I am a 23 year old female and had an acute form of epilepsy from the ages of 3-10 yrs. old. In that time i was on phenobarbitol 4 times a day with my last seizure being about 9 yrs. old, by 11 i was no longer taking medication. I was seizure free until 2 days after my 16th birthday, i was sick and home from school, i had a seizure and was taken by ambulance to the emergency. I think i was in the hospital about 2-3 days, they did many tests, EEG, EKG, MRI, i was told it was from taking dimetapp and aspirin which caused me to dehydrate but they wanted to put me back on medication although they found nothing on the tests that were done, they also found nothing on my tests when i was younger. Anyway, my mom decided not to put back on medication because of the side effects and the trouble with just getting off the meds. Since then i have not had a seizure. Is it possible that i have grown out of this? Or is it possible that sometime in the future seizures will return? I am just curious and would like any feedback, a friend of mine was just diagnosed with epilepsy and it brought back these memories. thanks!
