My 10 year old son has been seizure free for a little over two years. A recent EEG showed no seizure activity - although I'm told that could be because
1) his medication is controlling the seizures
2) he was not having a seizure at the time of the EEG
(so I'm not sure what good this test did).
The doctor is going to start weaning him off his medication - Tegretol 150mg 2X a day.
My questions - what are the chances his seizures will return? I need to know from people who have lived it, not from the doctor that tells me "It depends". Also, as he is weaned from Tegretol, will his short term memory improve? Right now, it's terrible, one side effect of the drug. (Small price to pay, I know).
Thanks for any responses, Lord Bless.
Debra
