In Reply to: Seizures are starting again... posted by Molly on April 10, 2000 at 21:58:29:

: I'm 18 years old, and when I was 14 I had a few grand mal seizures along with migraines and a pediatric neurologist diagnosed me as being epileptic. I haven't had a seizure in years, and my doctor even took me off of the anticonvulsants a few years ago. Now, all of a sudden I'm having what I believe to be petite mal seizures...about 5 in the last 3 days. My Ped. neurologist won't see me because I'm an adult now, and I can't get an appt. with another neurologist for over 3 weeks...until May. I'm concerned that this is going untreated...any suggestions?

Molly... I would try calling your ped/neuro again and explain that the seizures are continuing and that it is important that you you be seen immediately since you are no longer on meds. If he is still unwiling to see you "at least once" then to ask if he could please make a call to a Neurologist he knows to get you in for an immediate visit. If he is unwilling to do this ...go to the E.R.. You need to be treated. At least temporarily, until the appointment you have made. Also you can try calling the Dr. you have the appointment with and telling them that the seizures are continuing and that you "need" to be seen sooner.
