My wife has been on Tegratol since January and it is very important for you to have blood tested in beginning of treatment. My wife started on 400mg twice a day and that knocked her out, as the blood test later showed why. She is now on 200 mg twice a day. She has been seizure free while under the tegretol but has had four auras which occured while sleeping (the only times she has ever experinced seizures). Overall, she has been happy with the medication. She will be going in for another blood test soon to see if she should up the bedtime dossage since her only auras have been occuring after 6 am, which could mean that the medication is weak after the 9 hours in her system. We are also moving the nightly dossage back to 9:30 or so. While my wife has been fine I think everybody on this board understands me when I say that I want her to be seizure and aura free!! We all want our loved ones to be well. God bless and good luck with the tegratol!!
