My son was 3 1/2 years old when he had his first seizure. This happened 2 years ago. He had a MRI and several EEG'S which showed no sign of epilepsy. Our neurologist says our son should out-grow the seizure disorder and as of May 1, 2000 we have started to wean him off of Dilantin. He has been on 150mg of Dilantin a day for the last 2 years. The neurologist stated that if our son has a seizure during this weaning period, he wants to put him on Tegratol. He suggested that we put our son on Tegratol last year, but we refused. Our son has been seizure free for 2 years on Dilantin, and we are terrified of seeing him have another seizure. I would like to hear from anyone who would like to share their experiences with us. Thank you for any information you can give us.
