Hello,
I agree with you. I can not remember much of childhood. I have had epilepsy for 17 years and medicated the entire time. I am only 29 & memory loss was an immediate problem once medicated.
I was on phenobarbital for many years and then switched to mysoline. Though somewhat the same yet very different. Apparently to doctors they are of the same family. Since I have been taking mysoline my life has been better. Memory really came back & I lost lots of weight.
But now I would like to switch again. I am now looking for another type of med.

: I am curious to know if anyone else is suffering the loss of long term memory due to seizures. I have had about a dozen Grand Mal seizures over the past twenty-three years. I am fortunate to have very good seizure control as long as I take my meds. I find it very difficult to recall the majority of my own childhood and have lost bits and pieces of my kids experiences also. Am I just having "senior moments " or have my seizures really worsened my memory?
