I am 37 years old. I was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 18. I have been living with this illness for 19 years and have seen 4 neurologists. I started taking Tegretol and Dilantin but was allergic to them both. Then I took Depakote and gained 20 pounds but it worked. I was seizure free for 2 years and I wanted to become pregnant, so I stopped taking it and was put on phenobarbital. My first pregnancy was okay but 3 years later I had my daughter and I continued to have seizures throughout my entire 9 months. Now 6 years later, I am taking Lamictal and Keppra. Hopefully they will both work because the phenobarbital was just not working anymore (after 11 years). I have complex partial seizures, so thank g-d they are not grand mal. Please be in touch. All the best.
