: I am currently located in North Carolina and I need some information on health insurance that applies to a person with a pre-existing illness.
: Thank You!
I believe that Kaiser is in NC. They were enrolling people in the past with specific pre exsisting conditions, but were placing excluding those condidtions from coverage for a set amount of time ie 2 years. I don't know what your pre exsist cond is, but if you apply to a health plan independantly and are denied, you have the right to appeal within 60 days. That is the time you can plead your case. The best route is to try to show them that the pre exsisting condition will not cost very much in ongoing treatment. Like find out the cost of any meds you take, list the number of office visits in the last year related to that condition. You can also talk with the state insurance commissioners office. Each state has a funding to cover the extra costs of health insurance if a plan denies you. The state will subsidize the difference between you and no pre exsist cond. Sometimes there is a waiting list for that money, so apply ASAP. Best of luck.A
