:I saw your message from May 23. Are you still on Keppra? How is it going? I have tried just about every other medication and none seem to be able to control my seizures without debilitating side effects. I am going to try Keppra next and haven't found much useful information on the internet either. :Ok there HAS to be someone else out there who is on Keppra and has been on it longer than me (6 days now). I've read everything I can find on the internet and didn't learn much. The pharmacist didn't even know what it was for and the neurologist could only tell me it looks like it is going to be a promising drug. I just want to hear from someone who has taken it or knows more than the articles that are out there as they are very basic and quite clinical.
: : Thank you - Ellette
: Hi Ellette,
: This is my first time responding, so I hope I do it right. Five years ago I had a stroke which left me with seizures on my left side. I was only 38. Since then I have been on almost every medication there is. My seizures were life threatening as I would go for hours without quitting, and ended up having 3 brain surgeries. After the surgeries in Feb. 98, I was on neurotin, lamictal, dilatin, pheno, paxil for my depression and ativan when my seizure wouldn't stop. I started having seizures again two months after my surgery but now they only last about 10-15 min. To make a long story short, my neuro. doc has been working with me and my meds. I am now off neurotin and on keppra. I've been on it for about three weeks and have not had a seizure since. (This is the longest I've ever been seizure free in five years.) I do have a tremor problem in my left hand and also my head (people think I have parkinson's, but I don't.) I know that keppra did not cause this as I started having the tremor before starting on keppra.
: My doc. said that it is a new drug and that hopefully if my seizures stay under control then he will be able to wean me off the other meds. and keppra will be the only one that I'll have to take. PRAISE THE LORD!
: I hope you'll have success with this med. Please keep me informed -
