In Reply to: Anyone ever question why they developed seizures if diagnoses states,'unknown reasons' posted by kat on August 12, 2000 at 04:04:20:

Actually, I ask many, many questions and I do to the fact I have partial seizures I did not take any meds for almost a year. The diagnosis was partial seizure the reason to begin with was unknown. It took a couple of years to figure it out. I now know why. I was also allergic to the first two meds. but, the final one has worked fine.
I agree that you have to ask questions, become knowledgable about your health and most of all pay attention to your body. Keep a diary, see if there are any patterns you see.

My most important advise is this......Don't tell the doctor what you want.....make it in the form of a question....something you want to discuss.
Remember he went to school along time and has more knowledge than you do. I've found that if I am open for discuss so, is he. I don't like to be given a "do this or else" and neither does he.
I have had 3 dr. due to retirements....and they
have all let me do basically what I want. Remember save the demands for when you need them badly! :-)
