In Reply to: Menstrual cycle & Epilepsy connection? posted by Diane on February 08, 2000 at 19:47:31:

: Has anyone ever heard of a connection between menstrual cycles and epilepsy. Both grand mal seizures I've had, I've been on my period.

Yes, I've read up on Catamenial epilepsy and many women have had their doctors to prescribe Premphase (estrogen and progestrogen) tablets. I've asked my doctor to prescribe that to me and this month has been good for me so far. If many of our doctors would use their Internet more often, they will find more info. My doctor is male and he wouldn't at first prescribe it to me until I talked with his assistant. I've learned it takes a woman to understand a woman. If your gynecologist is male, research Catamenial Epilepsy on the Net and make a copy of the info and take it to him and maybe he'll understand what you're talking about. It's helped me so far.
