I've been an epileptic since age 7 (I'm 33 now). I started with grand mal seizures, and then in 1990 after my daughter was born I started to having an unusual type seizure. I am on Dilantin, Depakote, and Lamictal. My questions are:
1. I seem to be sleepy a lot, and I had a sleep study done, and I averaged fall-asleep time to be 2-5min. Does this sound par for the course in taking all this medication.
2. For those having grand mal seizures-when you are awakening from the seizure and are still in that "out of it" state, do you have an overwhelming urge to get up and walk? After a seizure, when my husband's there, he has to keep forcing me back to bed--for some reason in my mind I have to get up and go somewhere.
3. The other "unusual" seizure I have can occur at any time, frequently around ovulation time. It's like a "whoosh"-it passes in an instant, sometimes I fall to the ground, sometimes not. People around me can't tell if I've had one. Sometimes after one of these it feels like that "out of it" feeling after a grand mal.
I take Lamictal 200mg daily and Depakote 3000mg daily for these. I take Dilantin 400mg daily for the grand mal. Thanks for your help.
