: : : Is it common to get epilepsy during the teenage years? A friend of mine has slight dizziness and minor seizures occasionally. She never has had this as a child and the seizures don't seem severe enough to be epileptic. Could I be wrong???

: :
: : Is this a guy or girl?
: : If a girl it could possibly be catamenial seizures which are related to hormone levels.

: Thanks for you reply. It's a girl and she is around the age of puberty. What are catamenial seizures? The main reason I am doubting this is epilepsy is because she was diagnosed with subjective symptoms(her brain waves were tested and reported negative as well). The doctors gave her Tegretol which from what I understand can cause seizures itself especially if she is taking it for no real reason. Do you know anything about Tegretol?

I am 36 and was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 27 just after I had my daughter. Hormones? Unknown.
There are all kinds of seizures. Some simple partial seizures are mearly just a blank stare.
This is how mine started. My EEGs wre normal also. I'm unaware that Tegretol cause seizures.
I take a combination of Tegretol and Lamictal. Tegretol alone doesn't work for me. But with the
combination I'm doing great!
