: ABOUT 8 YEARS AGO I WAS TREATED FOR HODGKIN'S DISEASE WITH CHEMOTHERAPY AND RADIATION. I DID NOT EVER EXPERIENCE A SEIZURE UNTIL THE DAY AFTER MY FIRST RADIATION TREATMENT. ANY DOCTOR I HAVE SEEN SINCE THIS OCCURED HAS TOLD ME THAT MY RADIATION WOULD NOT BE THE CAUSE OF MY EPILEPSY. I WILL SAY THAT I MOST DEFINITELY TRUST MY NEUROLOGIST - HE IS KNOWN AS ONE OF THE BEST IN THE COUNTRY - SO I DEFINITELY "BELIEVE" HIM. I MUST ADMIT THAT I FIND IT TO BE "TOO MUCH" OF A COINCIDENCE THAT THIS HAPPENED. I AM STILL ON MEDICATION FOR THE EPILEPSY AND WILL HAVE A SEIZURE OCCAISIONALLY - BUT IT IS PRETTY RARE. I AM CURIOUS AS TO WHETHER OR NOT ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD THIS SAME "EXPERIENCE"?
My daughter was treated for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia 13 years ago and three years ago developed epilepsy. Her treatment consisted of chemotherapy including Methotrexate and Cranial Irradiation. We too have been told there is probably no link but I am not ocnvinced.
