: My 7yr old daughter had a first time seizure about 1 month ago. The Ped. Neurologist said it was a childhood kind called "Rolandic", and that she would out grow it. He did not prescribe any med, since she has only had one. He said that over in Europe the drs. don't prescribe med., for this type of Epilepsy. We do not want her to go on med., if there is a natural alternative. Anyone who has a child with Rolandic Epilepsy? Have you tried any natural alternatives?
Your situation sounds just like ours. Our daughter (now 8) was diagnosed with the same condition a year ago. We were terrified, but the doctor told us that if we could avoid meds it would be better. She has had about 6 seizures over the year, but we are now prepared for them, and so is she, and so far she doesn't want us to try meds, though she knows they're available. It is of course scary to wait out the seizures, but we are gradually feeling calmer and so is she. I don't know about natural alternatives, but anything that helps your child relax during the seizure (massage, stroking, etc.) is probably a good thing, as long as she is on her side. good luck.
