: I understand the therapeutic dose of Dilantin to be between 10 and 20. I need to keep my dose near 10 because of bad side effects. I realize I'm walking a fine line. Are there things besides alcohol, stimulants and lack of sleep I need to worry about? Anything that might give me added protection? Taurine?
: Thanks.

Unless you have experienced bad side effects at hire levels, you may not have worry about how high your levels go. I got concerned when my doctor started perscribing dosages of more than 300mg/day, but he said he didn't care how high my levels got as long as I could tolerate the dosage. He said he had patients on 5 or 6 dilantin a day, but I was only able to tolerate 400mg a day before nasty things began to happen. Eight hours sleep and no alcohol are very important no matter which epilepsy medication you are on.
