: My son has been on all medications for his seizures except felbatol. He does not want to take this drug because of the risk of aplastic anemia. Does anyone know of any new ones not yet approved that have been successful? He has generalized seizures, petit mal and grand mal. He is 18. Thanks.

My son was on Felbutol.... a scary time given that we were not told about the aplastic anemia issue for at least six months and then the news came from the pharmacist rather than the neurologist.

He is now on Depakote and Lamictal.
